|
|
Jesus in rev. How Jesus presents Himself there is FASHION. What does it say?
|
|
|
|
First week, wear your favorite outfit, your favorite hair style, your favorite makeup, or whatever makes you feel the most like you.

Since it's really easy to get superficial when looking at clothes, I want to start zoomed way out looking at the bigger picture.
|
|
|
|
All things work together for God's glory. We are not going to see how random things glorify God unless the Holy Spirit guides us.
|
|

Bow your heads, please. Father, give us that lamp.

|
Now let's start with clothes at the most basic level-they are physical objects.
|
|
|
|
I'd like to introduce a dictonomy here. Clothing is physical, but fashion is social.
|
|

State - Our interests lead us to truth about God. As we study the Bible through the lens of fashion, privately study according to your interest...Food, plants, animals, love, sports...
|
|
Challenge to use your activities to build up others and reach the unsaved world.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The Bible contains many references to clothing and fashion, and these references can provide insight into the cultural and historical context of the stories and passages in which they appear. Some famous mentions of clothing in the Bible include:

In Genesis, Joseph is given a coat of many colors by his father Jacob, which causes jealousy and resentment among his brothers
|
|
In Exodus, God commands the Israelites to make a special garment for the high priest, which is to be made of fine linen and decorated with precious stones
|
|
In Matthew, Jesus tells a parable about a wedding banquet in which a man is not allowed to attend because he is not properly dressed
|
|
In Luke, Jesus tells a parable about a rich man who is clothed in fine linen and purple, while a poor man named Lazarus is covered in sores and rags
|
|
In John, Jesus' disciples are told to buy a sword to defend themselves, and Peter uses a sword to cut off the ear of a guard who comes to arrest Jesus
|
|
In Revelation, the people of God are described as being clothed in white garments, symbolizing their purity and righteousness.
|
|
These are just some examples of mentions of clothing in the Bible. The Bible contains many other references to clothing and fashion, and these references can provide valuable insights into the cultural, historical, and spiritual context of the stories and passages in which they appear

In Proverbs, it is said that a man who is clothed in fine apparel and lives in luxury is likely to be found in the way of transgression
|

In Isaiah, the Lord says that he will clothe the faithful in garments of salvation and wrap them in a robe of righteousness
|
|
In Job, it is said that God makes the clothes of the grass of the field, which are renewed every morning
|
|
In Zephaniah, the Lord promises to remove the filthy garments of the people of Israel and clothe them with a robe of righteousness
|
|
In James, it is said that the rich should not be haughty and should clothe themselves in humility and gentleness
|
|
In 1 Peter, it is said that Christians should clothe themselves with humility, as God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble
|
